In-Home Newborn Session Seattle Washington

Bringing your baby home is such a special season. It’s slow, emotional, a little overwhelming, and honestly… a blur in the best and hardest ways.

That’s why I love in-home newborn sessions here in Seattle, Washington. You don’t have to go anywhere or have everything perfectly put together. You just get to stay home, settle in, and soak it in while I document it for you.

Why I Love In-Home Newborn Sessions (Especially in Seattle)

If you’ve ever tried to leave the house with a newborn, you already know it’s a whole thing.

Packing the diaper bag, timing feeds, hoping they stay asleep in the car seat. It can feel like a lot.

With an in-home session, you don’t have to worry about any of that. You can stay in your cozy space, move at your baby’s pace, and just breathe a little.

Seattle homes also have the most beautiful, soft natural light, which makes everything feel calm and timeless in photos.

What If My Baby Cries?

I get asked this all the time, and I promise you’re not the only one wondering.

Babies cry. Even if you fed them, changed them, and did everything “right,” they can still get uncomfortable or need extra snuggles. That is completely normal.

If there’s one thing I could tell parents going into a newborn session, it’s this: you are not the first to have a moment where things don’t go as planned.

The biggest difference honestly comes down to the way you show up. When you stay calm, keep a soft smile, and just stay connected to your baby, it shows so beautifully in your photos.

You don’t need a perfectly calm baby. You just need to be there with them.

I’ll guide you through everything else.

What Does a Newborn Session at Home Actually Look Like?

Very relaxed. Very flexible. Very baby-led.

We take breaks whenever we need to. Feeding, changing, rocking… it’s all part of the session.

There’s no pressure to rush or to have your baby “perform.” Some of the sweetest moments happen in between everything.

I’ll gently guide you into natural positions that feel comfortable, and I’m always watching for those in-between moments that feel real and meaningful.

What Should I Wear?

This is one of the biggest stressors for moms, so let’s keep it simple.

Soft, neutral tones always work beautifully. Think creams, whites, light browns, soft greens, or anything muted and cozy.

Flowy dresses, comfy sweaters, and simple outfits photograph so well at home.

Most importantly, wear something you feel good in. You just had a baby. Comfort matters.

Do I Need a Perfectly Clean House?

Not at all.

I promise I’m not walking in expecting a spotless home. You just had a baby.

If you can, try to clear off a few countertops or spaces near windows, but that’s really all we need. I’ll help guide you once I’m there and find the best light in your home.

When Should I Schedule My Newborn Session?

Most in-home newborn sessions happen within the first 1–3 weeks after baby arrives, but there’s flexibility here.

If you need more time to recover or settle in, that’s completely okay. These sessions are about your real life, not a strict timeline.

What If I Already Had My Baby? Is It Too Late to Schedule?

Not at all.

While many newborn sessions happen within the first couple of weeks, it’s never too late to document this season. Whether your baby is a few weeks old or a few months in, there is still so much beauty worth capturing.

At-home sessions are especially flexible, which means we can focus on connection, cuddles, and the stage your baby is in right now. Eye contact, little smiles, and all the personality that’s starting to come through.

If you’ve been thinking about it, you’re not behind.

What If I Feel Tired or Not Like Myself?

Almost every mom feels this way in those first few weeks.

You’re adjusting, healing, and running on very little sleep. You don’t have to feel “put together” for your photos to be meaningful.

Some of the most beautiful images come from this stage because it’s real. The way you hold your baby, the way you look at them, the way you care for them—that’s what you’ll want to remember.

Can Siblings Be Included?

Yes, always.

Siblings are such an important part of the story. And just like babies, they don’t have to be perfect.

We keep things relaxed and follow their lead so it feels natural for them too.

What If My Baby Doesn’t Sleep?

That’s okay.

While sleepy photos are beautiful, awake moments can be just as meaningful. Eye contact, little stretches, and the way they look at you make your gallery feel personal and unique.

We go with whatever your baby gives us.
